About the piece
The twenty second prelude gives the melody to the left hand in heavy octaves, snarling beneath agitated chords in the right. It is among the most overtly aggressive pieces Chopin wrote.
Marked molto agitato, it lasts well under a minute and works as a burst of pure fury between the lyrical prelude before it and the delicate one that follows.
