About the piece
Twelve studies that continue where Burgmuller's famous twenty five easy studies of Op. 100 leave off, raising the technical demands while keeping each piece short and characterful.
Teachers generally use the three collections as a ladder: Op. 100 first, then Op. 105, then the eighteen studies of Op. 109. Together they carry a student from early intermediate playing to the threshold of the Romantic repertoire proper.
The composer
Friedrich Burgmüller
1806–1874
Johann Friedrich Franz Burgmüller, generally known as Friedrich Burgmuller was a German pianist and composer during the Romantic period. He is perhaps best known for his three collections of children's etudes for the piano, particularly his Op. 100 "25 Études faciles et progressives" for early intermediate students. The other two collections, for more advanced students, were Op. 105 and 109.
