About the piece
A systematic treatment of double notes, the technique of playing two lines simultaneously in one hand at speed, whether in thirds, sixths or octaves. It is among the hardest things a pianist has to master and appears constantly in Chopin, Liszt and Brahms.
Moszkowski was a respected teacher in Berlin and Paris, and collections like this one show the methodical side of a composer better known for salon brilliance.

Moritz Moszkowski was a German-Polish composer, pianist, and teacher. His brother Alexander Moszkowski was a famous writer and satirist in Berlin.
