About the piece
An American teaching edition of Sinding's Rustle of Spring, edited by Ernest Kroeger, a St Louis composer and pedagogue who prepared instructional editions of standard repertoire.
Editions of this kind, with added fingering, pedalling and phrasing, were how most students of the period met the music. The piece itself, published in 1896, was Sinding's one great popular success and remains the work by which the Norwegian composer is universally known.
