About the piece
Two of the many short keyboard sonatas Cimarosa wrote, most in a single movement and lasting only a few minutes.
They are pleasant, tuneful and entirely unpretentious, written by a composer whose reputation rested wholly on the stage, and their melodic directness shows the opera composer's instincts applied to a keyboard.

Domenico Cimarosa
1749–1801
Domenico Cimarosa was an Italian composer of the Neapolitan School and of the Classical period. He wrote more than eighty operas, the best known of which is Il matrimonio segreto (1792); most of his operas are comedies. He also wrote instrumental works and church music.
