About the piece
Hasche-Mann, Catch Me, is the third piece in Schumann's Kinderszenen, composed in 1838. It is the fastest and lightest number in the set so far, a quick game of chase rendered in scampering, playful figuration.
Its minor key gives even this lighthearted game a slightly restless edge, characteristic of how Schumann layers real feeling underneath the simplest childhood scenes.
