About the piece
From My Diary, four books of short pieces written across nearly a decade, and among the most approachable music by a composer usually associated with density and difficulty.
Reger's output was enormous and his style famously thick with chromatic counterpoint. These miniatures are the exception: brief, intimate and often quiet, closer to Schumann's world than to the massive organ works and variation sets on which his reputation rests.
